Pork and Sauerkraut Crockpot Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2-3 pounds pork shoulder or pork loin
  • 1 jar (24 oz) sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 apples, cored and sliced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the pork with salt and pepper.
  2. Place the sliced onion in the bottom of the crockpot.
  3. Add the drained sauerkraut over the onions.
  4. Layer the sliced apples on top of the sauerkraut.
  5. Place the seasoned pork on top of the apples.
  6. Pour the chicken broth over the pork and sprinkle with caraway seeds if using.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the pork is tender.
  8. Once cooked, shred the pork with two forks and mix it with the sauerkraut and apples before serving.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the pork and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes or crusty bread for a hearty meal. Enjoy!
